About

Planet Selfless Principles:

  1. Human caused global plastic contamination and global warming is happening NOW.
  2. Both plastic toxicity and climate change are serious problems and need to be addressed and ultimately reversed.
  3. The food industry is a main component of both plastic waste production (Over 1/2) and world GHG production (Over 1/3)
  4. Reducing food/bev consumption and over-eating is the most effective way to reduce the food industry’s global impact during the next few critical years.
  5. As per the U.N. and World Health Org, the majority of people in first world countries eat too much and waste too much food.
  6. Personally reducing food/beverage consumption and eating less ultra processed foods is one of the most important things that we can do right now to prevent plastic toxicity, global plastic contamination, and global warming from destroying the world as we know it.
  7. Share the principles through #eatlessforearth

Meet Our Team

Matthew Pappalardo

Matthew is a mechanical engineer, certified personal trainer/nutritionist, and lifelong environmentalist who has always been seriously concerned with various types of pollution, global warming/climate change, as well as the preservation of our planet’s precious natural habitats and primary forests. Over his lifetime he saw the failures of the environmental movement coincide and be exacerbated by the degradation of American health. He saw the environmental movement completely ignore America’s food addiction and obesity epidemic. The environmental community stood silent as toxic and addictive foods and their negative health and environmental consequences spread to every continent. Matthew founded the #eatlessforearth movement after his exhaustive search revealed a vacuum in the environmental space that required a new organization to spread bold simple facts. The fact that overconsumption of food and bev (especially ultra processed) causes climate change and global plastic toxicity. The fact that our obesity epidemic causes climate change and global plastic toxicity. And the fact that if the American overconsumption diet spread to less than half the world, the Earth’s ecosystem would collapse. As a person as passionate about human health as he is about planetary health, Planet Selfless was founded to encourage people to eat a healthy whole foods diet not just for themselves, but for our environment and the future of all life on earth.
